His areas of expertise include the assessment and treatment of adult Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD), depression, working with adolescents, pre-adolescents, all adults, couples and families, general and social anxiety, marriage, pre-marital and post-marital counseling, sexuality, Bipolar I and II, assertiveness, women's and men's life transitions, stress management, anger management, spiritual conflict, surviving sexual assault, post-traumatic stress disorders, grief and loss, parenting effectiveness, step-families, academic performance, and motivation building.
He is a Professional Personal Coach emphasizing life goals to forward the direction of a person's life without emphasizing so much a person's past, moving toward the future and realizing one's dreams.
He is also a trainer of prospective coaches, scheduling these classes two or three time per year. He is the founder of ADDvance, a Central Ohio adult twice-per-month support group for persons with or caring for others with ADD, and is a past director of this organization for the most recent 11 years.
He also founded a year-round weekly Monday night seven-week course teaching Skills Building for Life with ADD.
In his counseling, Jan generally works with individuals through strength-based, family systems and cognitive behavioral models of therapy.
Education: North Park University, Chicago; Wright State University, Dayton, a CACREP accredited Masters of Science (MS) Degree
Hours: Jan sees patients on the hour, usually for 45-minute sessions, by appointment. Hours vary of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, Call for specific hours for your appointment.
Insurance:Jan sees clients with most insurance providers and out-of-network (off-plan) self-pay clients, but be sure to check with any insurance plan looking for Off-Plan Provider coverage.
Generally, most insurance companies will pay for at least a portion of Jan's sessions, but you must ask. Also ask your employer about EAP policies, you may call our offices to verify plan coverage and you may ask to speak with Jan Arthur at Extension 107.
Medicaid and Medicare are also accepted.
